NATURE BOY

Miguel Adrover is back and he's in love with fashion - and New York - all over again. And why not? He's with a company that indulges his creative whims: hessnatur, the eco-friendly German mail-order business that hired him as creative director last year. "I was able to let my mind run wild," Androver noted. That resulted in one of the more standout presentations during a packed week. Given carte blanche to do whatever he wanted, Adrover came up with a fashion-cum-art installation for his Sunday presentation of nine garments, each spotlighting a different aspect of the company's natural resources. To wit, he spliced together a sexy bustier dress from panels of linen and created another fluffy frock out of 2,000 yards of cotton ribbon. All of it, of course, was organic and, as Androver reminded: "No pesticides or chemicals were used." The homespun vibe was highlighted by the fact that everything was done by hand. Even the exhibit itself had Adrover's fingerprint all over it - literally - since he designed the wood mannequin sculptures and set up the elaborate staging himself. "Most people see [green fashion] as crunchy granola," Adrover said. "I want to give it a new face and excite people to eco-clothing."
