What Environmental Responsibility Means

hessnatur has not adapted environmental responsibility to our existing business. Environmental responsibility is our reason for being. Yes, we create beautiful clothing. But inherent in the beauty is how the clothing is created. This was the guiding principle of our founder Heinz Hess, a dedicated environmentalist.

At hessnatur we have something called a vision board. It has images of our planet, its people and the relationships we have with each other and the earth. All of us have the vision board in clear sight. It’s a constant reminder of why we’re here, why what we do and how we do it is so important.

For us, environmental responsibility means using the earth’s precious resources sparingly, endeavoring to prevent pollution and the use of toxic chemicals. We promote sustainable farming methods and work only with partners who measure up to our environmental standards. We rigorously recycle our waste and packaging, and use power from alternative energy sources at our headquarters.

Have we achieved all our goals? No. But we try to improve every single day.  As a famous frog once said, “it isn’t easy being green.”
