
Our Social Standards
While we work closely with international organizations that implement and monitor working conditions throughout the world, we have always acted on our own social principles. Treating people the way we wish to be treated doesn’t just apply to those we see every day. So these are our “golden rules”:
- Human rights and humane working conditions are guaranteed to every person who works for hessnatur and our partners.
- Every worker is guaranteed fair wages.
- Every work environment is humane, safe and hygienic.
- There are regular working hours, without excessive overtime.
- There is no forced labor or child labor.
- There is no discrimination based on gender, race or religion.
- There is regulated, legally binding employment.
- Freedom to convene and organize is affirmed.
All hessnatur partners must acknowledge and confirm these standards in writing.
We also endorse and employ fair trade practices which state that “the price paid for products traded reflects the costs of the production of the products as well as guaranteeing an income level that is at least sufficient to meet the basic needs for producers and workers.”
